Festival of Flowers (Feria de las Flores)

Every year, during the first week of August, the city of Medellin wears its best outfit, the Feria de las Flores! With incredible parades through the city, the “silleteros” marching the streets show stunning flower arrangements.

During this festival, plenty of cultural events and parties are organised all over the city, attracting thousands of tourists and locals alike.

Christmas

Christmas is the most important moment of the year for Colombian people. In Medellin, during the Christmas period, lights are installed along the river. It is the perfect occasion for a lovely night time walk to admire the light installations which change in theme every year.

ARVI parc

A 70km2 natural reserve where you can walk, run or bicycle to discover local fauna and flora over the mountains of the Aburra Valley. On Sunday morning, you will find a local farmers market where you can taste local specialties, buy fresh fruit and vegetables grown locally. You can access it every day with the line L of metrocable or by bus, foot or car via Santa Elena village.

Guatape

Two hours far from Medellin via North Terminal, Guatape is a beautiful traditional Colombian village surrounded by outstanding lakes.

Here you can admire the typical colonial houses with their “Zocalos” on the facades, representing typical scenes of “paisa” culture.

Five kilometers from the village, you will find the “Peñol, a giant granite rock which is more than 200m and 800 steps high. From the top of it, you will have a stunning 360 view of the entire region.

The lakes around Guatape are also perfect for water sports and activities.

Santa Elena

Santa Elena is a village located in the mountains about 30 minutes from Medellin. The climate other there is much cooler. This is where all the flowers for the Festival of Flowers are grown. This is also where the celebrated “Silleteros” farmers come from.

In Santa Elena, there are a lot of food specialities to taste. You will find plenty of eco bars on the road from Parque Arvi where the owners will welcome you.
